Anchorage custody, a published liquidation ladder, United States only

Arch publishes the number most crypto lenders leave vague: the exact ratio at which it sells. Four rungs appear on its safety page. At or below 60 per cent nothing happens. At 70 per cent a warning notice goes out. At 80 per cent a margin call demands extra backing or a part payment inside 24 hours. At 90 per cent it may sell, and it undertakes to sell only what brings the loan back into a healthy band instead of closing the customer out entirely. Having that ladder set down up front is the single most useful thing on the site.

Custody sits with somebody else, which is the structural argument. Backing goes to Anchorage Digital Bank National Association, billed as the only federally chartered digital asset bank supervised by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Arch states that it never holds the keys itself, that every customer gets a separately segregated wallet instead of a share in a pooled pot, and that the arrangement is bankruptcy-remote so the crypto would stay beyond its own estate. Anybody borrowing above 100,000 dollars is handed block explorer links to confirm that separation first hand.

The insurance headline needs reading carefully. The 100 million dollar Lloyd of London policy belongs to Anchorage, not to Arch, and it reads as cover for theft, hacking and dishonest insiders. It is not a deposit guarantee, it does nothing about a sliding bitcoin price, and it is one shared sum, not a per-head entitlement. Two-factor authentication is compulsory for every live account, and several staff, verified over video, must sign off any movement.

Pricing and reach are straightforward. Backing can be bitcoin, ether or solana; funding arrives as dollars or as USDC; terms stretch to twelve months. A banner advertises rates from 7.25 per cent while the quote tool on the same page opens at 10.49 per cent for a band of up to 60 per cent, and the small print warns that yearly rates move and vary by offering, size and where the customer lives. Charges may be deferred to the end of the term, backing can be added or released as prices swing, and settling ahead of schedule is free.

Who can borrow is the sharpest limit. ChainFi Inc, doing business as Arch Lending, gives a New York address and says outright that it is not a bank. It carries registry number 2637200, an Idaho permission numbered RRL-11362 and a Michigan regulatory loan permission numbered RL-0026469 dated 28 February 2025 under the state insurance and financial services department. Lending is closed to residents of eleven states and to companies in nine. This is an American offering with nothing on the table for British customers. Two small gaps: the headline counters for sums serviced and states served still rendered as zero, and the query about a minimum size showed no figure at all, checked across the site on 8 August 2026.
