Crypto tax and portfolio software, now on a new domain

CoinTracker is tax and portfolio software for people who hold cryptocurrency. It links to exchange accounts and public addresses, rebuilds the transaction history across them, and produces the numbers needed at filing time. One practical point belongs at the top: the service now sits at cointracker.com. Anyone hunting for the older cointracker.io address has found the same product under a new domain. Its terms of service, dated 10 March 2026 and read on 5 August 2026, still name the old address in their opening lines.

The legal entity named in those terms is Nino Finance, Inc. The business was founded in 2017 by Jon Lerner and Chandan Lodha, entered Y Combinator in 2018, and says it has since helped over 2.5 million traders, investors and professionals. Homepage counters quote more than 4 million linked accounts and 3 million people worldwide. The rating it displays, sourced from Trustpilot, is 4.7 out of 5 across more than 1,700 reviews. Treat self-published ratings as a starting point, not a verdict.

Disclosure on data handling is better than most of this category manages. CoinTracker states it never asks for private keys, connects to Coinbase through OAuth with read-only scope, and elsewhere uses read-access API keys. Those keys are encrypted at rest, passwords are hashed with bcrypt at cost factor 12, two-factor login is available, and an outside firm runs an annual penetration test. The business holds SOC 1 and SOC 2 certification and says it will not sell customer transaction data. Accounts can be deleted in full, irreversibly.

This is software, not a financial institution, and the terms say so bluntly: CoinTracker provides no legal, tax, audit, accounting or brokerage services, no fiduciary relationship arises, and you are not represented by a regulated adviser. Expect no licence number, because none belongs here. Note too that SOC 1 and SOC 2 are audits of internal controls, not permissions granted by a financial supervisor. Separate terms apply to residents of the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area.

What lifts its published material above the marketing average is that it explains the rules instead of gesturing at them: FinCEN and the money services business classification, IRS treatment of crypto as property, MiCA across the European Union, the route the United Kingdom expects to complete by 2027 through the Financial Conduct Authority, and FINTRAC in Canada. The filing integrations it names, TurboTax and H&R Block, point squarely at an American audience. No prices appeared on the plans page when we captured it, so confirm the current tier before committing.
