Cashback up to 9%, but only with 40,000 PLU

Plutus is a London card and rewards app that has been running since 2015. The service is operated by Block Code Ltd, registered in England and Wales under number 09674279 at 19 Heathman's Rd, Fulham, alongside a Lithuanian company, Block Code LT UAB, registered under 305848086. Plutus does not hold a banking licence of its own. Its own about page says card payments work through licensed partners, and the footer links to a set of MiCA whitepapers. All figures below come from its plans and fees pages, checked on 8 August 2026.

The subscription is the first cost. Three tiers are sold: Starter at 6.99, Everyday at 9.99 and Premium at 19.99, each per month, priced identically in pounds or euros, with a promotional discount flagged on the page. What the tier buys is not a better rate. Every tier starts at 3% back. The tier sets how much monthly card spending qualifies for rewards at all: 250 on Starter, 500 on Everyday and 1,000 on Premium, according to the fees page.

The advertised range of 3% to 9% comes from Reward Levels, and those are set by how much PLU, the company's own token, the customer holds. The published ladder runs 1,000 PLU for 3%, then 2,000 for 4%, 3,000 for 5%, 10,000 for 6%, 20,000 for 7%, 30,000 for 8% and 40,000 PLU for the headline 9%. Plutus argues this is not a cost, because the holder keeps the stack and the rewards in a personal wallet. That is fair, but the sum is denominated in a token, so its value in pounds moves with the token price, and the rewards themselves are paid in tokens rather than cash. On Premium, 9% of the 1,000 monthly cap is 90 a month, and it takes 40,000 PLU to unlock.

Everyday charges are set out clearly. Domestic point-of-sale spending is free. Anything in another currency costs 2.5%, and so does an ATM withdrawal. A physical card is 9.99, the virtual card is free, and deposits and withdrawals of ordinary money carry nothing. The in-app trading fee is 1% on Starter and zero on the two higher tiers. Paying out PLU carries a variable charge tied to Ethereum gas, shown in the app before you confirm.

One thing to check before subscribing. Plutus published a Q1 Migration FAQ dated 20 February 2026 stating that it ended its contract with Modulr in October, that card spending was unavailable while it moved to a replacement banking provider it declined to name until launch, and that cards would return during the summer. The same document confirms subscribers can switch the plan off from account settings and drop to a free tier called PlutusLite, which does not earn rewards. Confirm in the app that cards are live where you live before paying a monthly fee for them.
