TokenTax is two businesses behind one shop front: crypto tax software and an accounting practice. You connect trading accounts and blockchain addresses through read-only links, the software deduplicates and classifies the activity, and you download filing paperwork with one click into TurboTax, H&R Block or TaxAct. If you would rather not touch it, an in-house team of certified public accountants and other professionals will reconcile everything and submit the return, an option available only to customers who already hold a tax plan.

Charges are published in full, with no sign-up wall, which is the exception rather than the rule in this category. Taken from its pricing page on 8 August 2026, per tax year and in US dollars: Basic at 49 stretches to 100 transactions; Premium at 199 reaches 5,000 and unlocks a loss-harvesting dashboard and an Ethereum gas fee report; Pro at 1,999 reaches 20,000 and adds margin and options profit and loss; and VIP at 3,499 handles 30,000 centralised exchange movements with two 30-minute consultations and a review of tax authority queries. Premium and Pro can each take an extra 20,000 movements as a bolt-on, and buying multiple years together trims a tenth off the total.

The shape of that ladder matters more than any figure in it. Moving from Premium to Pro multiplies the bill roughly tenfold to multiply the transaction allowance by four, so the band you land in is decided by a count most people have never made. Do the count first. It matters more than usual here because the refund stance is one sentence long: TokenTax does not offer refunds.

For a British customer the fit needs testing. It claims to calculate capital gains and losses for any country and to present results in your chosen currency, and every band lists average cost basis for UK and Canadian filers alongside a line reading IRS Form 8949 or relevant international report. HMRC is not named anywhere in the pages captured, and the paperwork, integrations and audit vocabulary are all American. That is no fault in a business built for filers in the United States, but combined with a no-refund rule it puts the burden on you to confirm the output suits a British return before money changes hands.

On track record, the first version was built in 2017 by co-founder Alex Miles and won the Product Hunt Global Hackathon; co-founder Zac McClure joined soon after, and in 2019 it acquired Crypto CPAs, an accounting outfit led by Andrew Perlin. The site claims nine years in business, more than a trillion dollars of tax data processed, over 100 integrations and a 4.8 rating from 211 reviews. Beyond the software it advertises back-filing for missed years, help answering revenue authority queries, quarterly estimates and bookkeeping for companies.

One clarification on oversight, because absence of a badge is easy to misread. Tax preparation software is not a regulated financial activity, so there is no authorisation to look up and nothing missing when you fail to find one. The questions that do matter are about who touches your records: the firm states that connections are read-only, that it uses bank-grade encryption and that it never moves coins. A telephone number and a booking link for a free consultation are published, which is more contact detail than much of this market offers.
