95 million wallets, one Earn clause that makes you an unsecured creditor

Blockchain.com is one of the industry's oldest names — "For people since 2011" — claiming 95M+ wallets created and $1.1T+ in volume. It sells a custodial trading platform, a non-custodial DeFi Wallet, Earn and staking products, crypto-backed loans and institutional services. Checked 2026-08-21.

The corporate map is a world tour of its own: UK users contract with BC Operations Limited (England and Wales); EEA users with Blue Cube (Malta) Limited, MiCA-licensed by the MFSA (BCML8-25339); US users with Blockchain.com, Inc. under a 30-state money-transmitter patchwork; rewards run through a BVI company and staking through a Cayman one. The UK claim deserves precision: it is an FCA cryptoasset AML registration (FRN 1036678) — not FCA authorisation — while the homepage talks broadly of "MiCA and FCA milestones".

The clause this profile exists for sits in the Earn terms: rewards assets are transferred to Blockchain.com outright, which may "pledge, re-pledge, hypothecate, rehypothecate, sell, lend, or otherwise transfer" them — and in insolvency your claim ranks "pari passu with Blockchain.com's other unsecured creditors". The trademarked slogan "Be Your Own Bank®" and the "Earn up to 9.5%" banner live on the same site as that sentence.

Fees, meanwhile, are nowhere: /fees returns 404 and the terms just promise a schedule "in the Services", changeable at any time. The DeFi Wallet is explicitly unregulated — its own terms say so — and Canada custody has been discontinued. A veteran platform, in short, whose small print does more work than most.
