Track for free, pay only when you download the report
CoinLedger is an American crypto tax reporting tool. It was founded in 2018 as CryptoTrader.Tax by David Kemmerer, Lucas Wyland and Mitchell Cookson, three builders of automated trading systems who found the paperwork harder than the trading. You link exchanges, wallets and chains, and the tool turns that imported history into filing documents.
The headline number is simple enough. Standard tax reports cost between 49 and 199 US dollars, according to the pricing page, checked on 5 August 2026. Each report is a one-off purchase covering a single tax year rather than a subscription, and any year from 2010 to 2025 is available. Bands are set by volume: 49 dollars up to 100 transactions, 99 dollars up to 1,000, and 199 dollars and upwards to 3,000. Beyond 3,000 you buy extra transactions inside the app.
The part worth understanding is when the money leaves your pocket. Connecting hundreds of exchanges and wallets costs nothing. So does importing your full history, seeing your net gains and losses, and previewing the finished document. Payment is due only at the moment you download or export the forms. In practice, that means you learn the size of your tax position before you commit a penny.
The plumbing points squarely at the United States. The headline output is IRS Form 8949 with an income report alongside it, and the named filing destinations are TurboTax and TaxAct. Investors elsewhere can generate gains and income statements in their own currency, but those are figures to feed into a local return, not a finished national form.
Two cautions. Cost climbs with activity, so a heavy year of on-chain trading lands in the top band, where the additional pricing sits inside the app rather than on the public page. And the audience claims do not agree with each other: one panel states 500,000 users and 70 billion dollars in processed transactions, while another line claims more than 700,000 investors. A 14-day money back guarantee applies to every purchase.
